I don't think the first quarter after the merger is easy to forecast or representative of future results. I looked back at some old (Q4 95) analysts reports I received with the KLAC investor package. Two key points made at that time were the geometric increase in KLAC tools required as fabs move to more advanced products, and the expected competition from TNCR. With the merger and the industry upturn, I think that KLAC might have the greatest upside potential and the market is agreeing by giving AMAT and KLAC the highest multiples.
