If the National Council of Churches wishes to retain their tax status as a 501C-3.....How can they be political? It wasn't their ad. One of their members was involved, that's all. baptists4ethics.com "The ad, paid for by Religious Leaders for Sensible Priorities.... carried the names of more than 125 clergy, nuns and parishioners who oppose a preemptive strike against Saddam Hussein.... "The Rev. Bob Edgar, general secretary of the National Council of Churches and a former Democratic congressman from Pennsylvania, spearheaded the ad as chairman of the looseknit Sensible Priorities group."
