Great Bear is a great lake. It is large and it has bear too. You could say the bears are great bears. I don't know it their are polarized, but they are pretty gizzly. So it is a great lake with great bears. And large too. The bears and the lake. Slave, Athabaska and Great Bear are among the largest lakes in the world. You can get 30 foot waves on Athabaska. The prospecting up there is good too, for silver gold and diamonds and some type of polymetallic deposits called Olympic Dam type. There is a good book to read on that area called Prospector North of Sixty by Nagle. The Uranium for the first three Atomic bombs came from Gilbert Labine's Eldorado mine on the shores of Great Bear Lake. There is also supposed to be a mine on the shores of Lake Athabaska that operated at about that time. Gilbert Labine once visited our house during the Uranium rush in Elliot Lake in the 1950's.
