How about looking at it this way.

The mania to secure humongous profits caused multinationals to go abroad to exploit "cheap" labor pools.

While many of the workers are happy enough to be employed, a good many others somehow knew or were informed they were very poorly paid in comparison with workers in the West for similar work done. These are the ones that are prone to being exploited and recruited by Al-Qaeda to fight against the West.

An illegal immigrant, on being exposed and ordered to go home once said, "I will be back soon and so will many of my buddies as long as you guys pay us very poorly in our home countries."

The unpleasant side of this is that the foreign workers that return may be potential (and effective) recruits for Al-Qaeda and similar organizations as they become more and more familiar with their workplace and home surroundings.

What if they were left alone to begin with? That's another story. They probably would have killed off each other thereby reducing their numbers considerably to be relatively harmless to the West? <g> But then again some country will not resist the temptation to "aid" them and thereby gain in power much to the dislike/distrust/concern of the West.

The West is damned if it helps them. It will also be damned if it does not help them!

See the folly of exploiting the have-nots! In a sense the West is asking for it!

That is the ugly truth but, of course, guys like you, will not agree with this one iota!

Quite a catch-22 situation here, eh? Is this a problem that's inevitable with concentration of wealth in certain parts of the world to the detriment of the have-nots? <g>
