That may to some extent be true, but it's not as simple as it sounds. a) Checkout staff is not knowledgeable in hardware, etc. Can they tell me whether the new toilet tank valve that replaces the float ball is an improvement or not? b) Checkout staff will still be needed for customer assistance when customer pull two bolts from the drawer and knows neither the price nor the SKU number. c) How does HD plan to monitor the customer who checks out the three $4 lightbulb packs while overlooking the $40 wrench in his basket?
