I recently handled a custody case between two Muslims. Mother was from Pakistan, devout, but did not wear a head scarf and did wear short tight skirts and short sleeve blouses, at least to work and to court. Father was from Afghanistan, his female relatives did wear traditional head scarf and long loose clothing, but he was not devout. One of the bones of contention between them was that the mother wanted the child to eat halal food and the father did not.

Typical Americans, in other words. Everybody crazy and all mixed up.

Pakistani-Afghani marriages are famous for not working, I was told by a family friend (her family), also a Pakistani Muslim, who advised me to read Huntington's Clash of Civilizations. He said it was a good book and would explain a lot about current events.
