Mr. Bronson
or
How's Maureen ?

Actually, we are a hundred years ahead of you in this regard, Americans have never experienced the sense of identity that Canadians feel with their province. Canadians when travelling in America will often be asked where they are from, we have two choices. If we live in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary we can say that, usually (depends upon latitude) or we can say we are Canadians, but Canadians will know that is not what we say. A Canadian will say something like this "I am from Saskatchewan" and then you Americans go huh ? We usually don't figure it out, we are thinking, "You must be wondering if I am from Saskatoon or Regina." so we clear up the confusion by saying "I am from Kamsack.", this only makes matters worse.

Every province has found themselves allied against the Federal Government with every other province on different issues. Alberta and Quebec sank the Meech Lake Accord and these two provinces are usually not allies as most Canadians know. The provincial strength is necessary to restrain the center and all contribute to the harmony of the whole, in a sense Canada's provinces are like a group of countries controlled by a super-state.

According to the UN Canada as measured on the HDI is the best country in the world to live in, this does not satisfy all Canadians. This ranking is disputed by BC's Fraser Institute which has developed an alternate scale which has the United States at the top of the list.
