I was scared he might pick Lou Gerstner, so I'm actually relieved. Anway, I assume Mr John Q. Non-Entity was picked for his total loyalty to the Cheney-Bush world view.

Also: I just finished reading this, it paints a pretty grim picture. I wonder if the California budget crisis is bad enough to kick the country back into recession.

Fortunately, there's an easy way to get back 20% of the deficit, by fixing this piece of past tax-cutting folly:

"[some politician] said she hoped Sacramento would rescind the cut in vehicle license fees that was passed in the dot-com boom. The cut amounted to $4 billion a year, money the counties now badly need to provide essential services."

Course if they'd never cut it in the first place, the budget deficit would be a lot more manageable now.
