Thu 24 Jul 97 News Release
Mr Harry Bristman reports
As a result of the company's strengthening contacts and a positive change
in the political structure of the country, Starpoint has received official
confirmation from the Minister of Mines, that it has been successful in
acquiring three gold and diamond concessions in the Democratic Republic of
Congo.
These concessions have been awarded to Starpoint by the government in spite
of intense competition from major companies and encompass an area totaling
in excess of 12,000 sq km.
Negotiations are continuing for additional concessions and joint venture
opportunities.
The company has retained the services of two regional geologists to collect
and advise on all relevant data from original work carried out on these
concessions. This will facilitate the efforts of a consultant from Canada
who will review the collected material, perform a site survey and provide
recommendations on the work programs to be carried out. Starpoint
principals and an independent consultant will arrive in the Democratic
Republic of Congo in early August to sign the contracts and begin the
initial work an the above gold and diamond concessions.
