I am not going to be intimidated by them as are the Europeans, nor are a large majority of my countrymen.
I am not talking about intimidation. I am saying this is a very wrong way to go about the goal of achieving safety for Americans, if that is indeed the goal. If 9/11 proved one thing, it is that terrorism is very effective if a few loonies are willing to sacrifice their own lives. I lived with terrorism for long years. Trust me, you do not want more of that. Invading Muslim countries one by one is not a very clever way of making the world a safer place for Americans, is all I am saying.
Besides, there are the principles of the thing. International treaties, principles of sovereignty, etc. Breaking them all one by one, invading whatever country you don't like is just not a desirable way to go, unless you wish to end up in anarchy.
I dont mean to sound jingoistic
Hmm... What on earth is that? <g>
I am still waiting for you to comment on the peace proposal by barak
You are?
I read several good analyses of why it was inacceptable to Palestinians but I do not have a strong opinion on that myself. I have not studied it well enough. Do a search among Steven Rogers' posts, if you will. They are having it with Nadine in Foreign Affairs Discussion Group these days <g>
And terror is evil, so axis of evil lingo should not shock folks who thing killing of civilians is evil.
Do you need to be reminded that the so-called "axis of evil" included Iran, which has had nothing whatsoever to do with any killing of any civilians to mention? They have been keeping pretty much to themselves, chopping a hand off here and there but there is something called sovereignty and you cannot very well invade any country whose system you do not like. And since when did North Korea start killing civilians?
These are questions you should think about and answer. That not many Americans do and still believe in the "they are evil we are good" discourse is one reason why the American image is suffering the world over these days.
Please take a look at the last few posts of Steven Rogers on Foreign Affairs Discussion Group. I cannot say it better. |
