Wildstar...I agree that the bowls are about money. I also agree that VT is probably getting el shafto this year

This is different from the Syracuse situation last year. Syracuse is not known as a traveling team. Thus, after the Gator Bowl chose VT instead of Syracuse last year, Tranghese decided to "place" teams in bowls based on "pecking order." IMO, this is going to end up hurting every school in the Big East in the long run. I can easily see the Gator and the Insight not renewing their bowl tie-ins with the Big East when the time comes. They are the ones that take the financial risk and give the big payoff, which is shared by all Big East teams.

If that happens, the Big East will have the BCS tie-in but what else? We'll be scrambling for lower-tier bowls like the San Fran bowl and Motor City bowl for the 2nd and 3rd place teams rather than for the 4th and 5th place teams.

The preposterous thing of all is that it took a "vote" among AD's to decide where VT should go. I don't think there's another university in the country whose fate was decided by a secret ballot among AD's. The fact that the Big East was even thinking about sending VT to the MCB is outrageous. It shows that, when it comes down to it, the Big East is a basketball-first league that is still stuck in the last century. And in the pecking order, VT ranks down there with Temple.

Yes, you're right - Syracuse deserves credit for maintaining the Big East rep when Miami was down. But the league actually shows appreciation for you guys. Not VT.
