The Big East as an athletic conference is lacking in many ways...half the basketball teams don't have decent football programs. Notre Dame is in the basketball conference but not the football. The basketball end of it has chosen to expand and that has resulted in the dampening of natural BB rivalries...SU/Georgetown....SU/UConn. The whole thing is a mess. I'd like to see the football/basketball schools (Miami, SU, Pitt, W.Virg, BC, VT, Rutgers) leave the BE and join the ACC... Big Ten or some mid-atlantic conf....not that they'd have us.<gg> ESPN was the catalyst for the BE (basketball coverage in the major NE markets)...those days are gone. Once Gavitt left, the conference has been going downhill. Not that he would have made a dif.
