Mad Monk,

I just wish to let you know that I have now completely come over to your side of the Y2K fence. Why?

Last week, I had to quickly fly from London to Nashville for a family emergency.

1. Buying tickets at the airport took the agent 2 tries including her on her knees feeding paper to the computer as it printed 3 seperate sets of tickets. The issuing ticket agent also made a mistake, charging my card twice for $2500. She did not properly remove the charge from my card. I spent 2 transatlantic phone calls to United Airlines, a 20 miniute call to UA Chicago, and 4 calls to my credit card company over 3 days to get it removed. All it took was an authorization number and date.

2. I called Compuserve to see about opening an account while I am in Nashville, Switzerland, and Italy during the next two months. Called phone number 1: software orders only, call phone number 2. Phone number 2: to speak to a representative call phone number 3. Phone number 3: to speak to a representative call phone number 2. ??????

3. Tried AOL. Hopeless.

And all will be well by December 31, 1999. Thanks for pointing out the size of the problem.

See you on the beach in 2000.

Regards,
Bond
