that different than us saying bombing an Afghani wedding party is "regrettable"? It isn't.


It is very different. At the WTC the terrorists were trying to kill as many innocent people as possible. If they could have taken out Manhattan instead of just the towers they would have. The Afghani wedding that was strafed (not bombed but close enough) was entirely a mistake. If we knew then what we know now it would not have happened. It wasn't even collateral damage in the sense that we hit a target that we wanted to hit and they where two close and got killed. It was a mistake in identifying the target. Murder and an accident are very different things.
