Front Porch Digital Signs Development Contract with Microsoft Corporation; VAST Expands Presence in Broadcast Market

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Front Porch Digital Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: FPDI - News) today announced that it has signed a technology development contract with Microsoft Corporation to enhance the utility of the Windows Media 9 format for Broadcast applications. The agreement, which will involve considerable extensions to the Windows Media 9 format, is a direct result of Front Porch Digital's expertise in the area of digital video for Broadcast Production and Workflow.

Broadcast feature augmentations connected to the WM9 codec are the focus of the contract. The embellishments are expected to result in increased utilization of the format for the capture, storage, editing, repurposing and delivery of video. Applications range from Air Check, Broadcast Productions, Backhaul Delivery, Editing, On-air Playout and Digital Dailies.
FPDI's proprietary VAST(TM) technology will be greatly enhanced by the addition of Windows Media 9 features. The VAST architecture currently features a single capture, multi-repurpose process that simplifies digital content archiving. The VAST integrated workflow incorporates BitStorm® and BitScream®, the Company's core technologies for ingest and transcoding, with best-of-breed indexing, storage and asset management.
