...CEO Jeff Bezos reaffirmed the Internet retailer's fourth-quarter sales forecast of $1.3 to $1.4 billion...

I don't think so... Their sales are currently tracking at around 20-25% more items than last year. However, most of the growth over the last few quarters seem to have been on used and secondary deals for which they only book the commission.

On the one hand one has to presume that if Bezos goes out of his way to confirm revenue projections this late in the quarter he ought to be correct, but on the other hand the numbers are out there and it is hard to make them jibe with Bezos comments.

I expect real, honest-to-god profits to clock in around $60-125 million (the range is very imprecise as profits at the margin are quite high, somewhere around 20-30% for each item sold), so pro-fudged profits of $200 million also seem a tad high.
