I agree completely with your point about Saddam. He is infinitely a greater threat than AQ.

I really don't know about that - I'd say the odds are that when the dust finally settles after Saddam is deposed or decades from now dies a peaceful death (as Castro seems likely to do), the present regime will look like the mouse that roared.

But there is always the outside chance that I'm wrong, and that's what actuarial analysis is about - what is the worst likely case that one will have to face. Insurance companies don't stay in business by being wrong about the odd disaster, earthquake, flood, etc, and I only hope (against some odds) that there is some competence in our government concerning Iraq. We sure missed the danger signals that lead to 9/11, and bigtime.

As for OBL, he's another Elvis now.
