Dear Ed:

Just so the record is straight, I never said I thought Netscape is the next Microsoft.
It can't be because it doesn't have Bill Gates. Bill Gates may
be universally reviled, but he seems to know what he is doing management-wise.

What I said was

"Some [of my friends in tech] said it was the next Microsoft." I agree that it is hard to draw too much from facile analogies.
'Nuff said about that.

Incidentally, does anyone reading this thread think Netscape's management has
made any mistakes? If so, what? What should they be doing differently? What are they doing right?

How does Netscape's high stock price affect mamagement's ability to use stock options to compensate employees? (remember, Bill uses stock options as a significant part of his employess' compensation -- so everyone
can share in the success or failure of the enterprise.)
