Darleen >the US is dominant in the West. I think you will see a portion of this power shifting towards the East

I agree, and the shift is faster than many would have thought. In fact, Huntington in his "Clash of Civilizations" expected that the world economy would be split 50:50 between East and West by 2020. Frankly, I think the change in the balance of economic power is what is worrying may people in the US administration "think-tanks". They cannot bear to think of the West losing power.

>I attribute the condition of the Middle East more to the lax attitude of the UN in regards to Arafat's original request than anything else.

Whoever is to blame, the conflict benefits no-one.

>Right now in the ME you have two old buzzards hell bent on a feud

Yes, a perverted ego trip where there can be no winners. Also, one mustn't forget the crazy fantasies and self-righteousness of religious bigots. We had a similar situation in SA where the Afrikaner Nationalists justified their policy of apartheid on a religious covenant which they claim to have made with God.

>An economy cannot be productive when taxes due to extensive social programs become too costly.

This is the problem in SA where where government fantasies about rectifying past wrongs, egalitarianism, and reverse racism have effectively stifled all growth. Why should anyone work hard and scrimp and save in order to invest when it is only going to be plundered by the state?

>An economy cannot prosper when legal costs become one of the largest costs that must be budgeted into the operations of a business.

They say legal services are a part of the new "service industry" which has taken the place of manufacturing in the US. I think lawyers are simply parasites, like the government. They produce nothing, create nothing but rob everyone, especially their own clients.

>Here the administration could of been a plus.

How could it be when it is dominated by lawyers?!

>I hope and I trust the inspectors from the UN will do their job. I want negative findings.

Same here. But will that please Mr Bush & Co? I am sick of all the war talk and the unnecessary suffering.

>Maya now has a hernia I think surgery will be this week

Gosh, one thing and then another. I am sorry to hear that. I do hope all goes well.

>She has also been seen by the fellow at UCLA whose paper you so kindly directed me too

He certainly seemed like a top guy so I am glad I was of some help. In this game one wants to be sure one is in the best hands. Or, perhaps I should say, as sure as one can be.
