BIRCH MOUNTAIN ANNOUNCES PRIVATE PLACEMENT

Birch Mountain Resources intends to complete a non-brokered private
placement of a minimum of 800,000 units and a maximum of six million units
at a price of 25 cents per unit. Each unit consists of one common share and
one non-transferrable share purchase warrant, with each warrant entitling
the holder to acquire an additional common share at a price of 75 cents per
share for a period of 16 months from closing. Birch Mountain expects to
complete an initial closing of this private placement prior to the end of
the year.
