The attempted robbery occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m., July 25th, when the suspect Timothy Stefanich, 40 years old, of West Los Angeles, walked into the store and pulled a gun (which apparently turned out to be made of plastic.) He threatened the owner with the gun, and when he dropped his guard, the owner was able to secure his own weapon and thereupon shot the suspect. Stefanich died at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. According to Beverly Hills Acting Executive Media Officer Sgt. Steve Seeger, the investigation is still ongoing and has not yet been finalized.
