Hi Sal, I am FOR us pressuring Israel out of occupied Palestinian land. I am AGAINST rewarding suicide bombing. I am just curious what you propose the US should do about its Israel policy? If you had it your way, what should the US do? If we give in, there is a good chance that others will view suicide bombing as a political answer and start doing it to the US. Then again, maybe they will do it anyway. Maybe they will start shooting down planes with shoulder rockets and dirty bombs will go off simultaneously in 8 different cities and stick some bizarre chemicals in our resevoirs and suicide bomb our nuclear reactors etc... Then again, what if the US pressures Israel to give back the land (like they agreed to a few years ago) and then they do it and then the terrorist suicide bombings just continue? What if the middle east takes the view that they are just gaining momentum to extinguish Israel altogether? In my view, there is a serious problem with Islamic states which the US is going to have a tough time giving in to... ever. In general, the Islamic states are all intimidated by religious extremists who interpret the Koran however they must to fend off modernity and tolerance. Intolerance is a tremendous problem. It is possible though that somebody credible comes along that revolutionizes the interpretation of the Koran and allows for modernity and tolerance and then the Middle East realizes it cannot win a war with the rest of the world and evolution continues. Gloom and doom reigns today and maybe rightfully so... but even if a nuke goes off somewhere... we will then just have to figure out how to continue and how to evolve from there...
