Any president of the US should have known a lot about them years before 9/11. Even the public at large had started to hear about Al-Qaida before 9/11, most particuarly when the Cole was bombed. When 9/11 happened the immidate thought was it was Al-Qaida, not "who could have done this?" and then perhaps when someone mentions Al-Qaida, a "who the hell are they?".

Excuse me, but how much did Bush know and didn't do squat? The Germans warned us that something was up re planes and hijackings at least two months before 9/11. Little was done by Bush, or by anyone else. And frankly, I don't blame them on this one.

From what I've learned there is "terrorist chatter" 24/7. And even thought the Germans had substantive proof who in their right mind would have believed what happened 9/11.

You mentioned two radical, underground groups in Egypt. Multiply that number by 2k and that probably undercounts the number of terrorist groups in the world.

In the meantime, here's Clinton with a Rep. Congress that's unwilling to endorse military action in Kosovo where the scenario was fairly obvious. And you want him to convince those same Reps. that there was one particular terrorist group among these thousands that we needed to nail big time. You talk about the Dems being obstructionist.......... I don't think Clinton had a chance in hell. That's why he took the actions he did independent of Congress.
