Good opportunity coming up will be the rebalancing of the Nasdaq 100.
Tech names that will likely be deleted from the index include Applied Micro Circuits (NasdaqNM:AMCC - News), Atmel Corp. (NasdaqNM:ATML - News), Brocade Communications (NasdaqNM:BRCD - News), Gemstar-TV Guide (NasdaqNM:GMSTE - News), and i2 Technologies (NasdaqNM:ITWO - News), the firm said.
But some technology stocks are still likely to be added to the index, Prudential said.
Technology stocks projected to enter the index are American Power Conversion (NasdaqNM:APCC - News), Expedia Inc. (NasdaqNM:EXPE - News), Garmin Ltd. (NasdaqNM:GRMN - News), Marvell Technology (NasdaqNM:MRVL - News), and Ticketmaster (NasdaqNM:TMCS - News).
This year's rebalancing will take place after the close of trading on Dec. 20, and the list of additions and deletions is expected to be released by Nasdaq on Dec. 16, Prudential said.
For a stock to be selected it must rank among the top 150 stocks on the Nasdaq stock market by market value, have an average daily trading volume of at least 100,000 shares and not be in the financial sector, among other conditions, said Prudential. |
