I think what Zonder is saying is that it doesn't matter whether we have, in fact, hurt Muslims around the world, what matters is that we are perceived to have done so.

Sort of like it doesn't matter that the US never ratified the Kyoto Treaty, and thus cannot have violated it, it only matters that we are perceived to have done so.

Just as it doesn't matter that Jews don't kill Muslim and/or Christian children to make Passover Matzohs, it only matters that they are perceived to have done so.
