Stupid? Yes. The words are obviously subject to misinterpretation especially by pinheads with a pinhead agenda. But, as Lott stated, he was not speaking about segregation but about Thurmond's strong stance on defense, national security and other conservative issues. For a Southerner, Lott has a fairly decent civil rights record and his actions belie these kind of pinhead "racsist" claims.... JLA BTW, very classy of him to apologize. I still think he should resign but not over these remarks.
