Immersion Facility (): Hypersonic Sound Task. This task involves the acquisition and testing of innovative equipment that can project sound in a tight ultrasonic beam that is rendered in audible sound at the point where the beam strikes a solid object. The so-called "Hypersonic Sound" emitter will be automatically panned to point to various real world locations and sound sources generated to correspond to virtual events. During August,.. reviewed the literature on ultrasonic sound, and arranged for a visit to the American Technology Corporation in September. ATC announced retail marketing for two versions of the HSS system. On the basis of the San Diego visit, we will determine if it is now time to order and begin testing the HSS system. We also began to design a servo-based motion platform so that the HSS emitter could be automatically directed to various locations in the Mixed Reality studio environment, as the scenario script dictates.
