I agree with you that he was just slinging the bull but this would be a great opportunity to make a statement, get rid of an appeaser of the democrats in the Senate and then use this as a precedent to attack every democrat member of the Senate who was or was related to a segregationist. For instance, has Al Gore ever spoken up on his father's Klan membership and isn't it time he did?
