Now I say this to everyone: the goal of this forum, often imperfectly achieved, is not to cross examine the other posters but rather to bring to the table one's own opinion, the opinions of the professionals in the field, and that of respected* foreign affairs commentators -- let's keep it educational, even dull, please.
