You are correct about all of it.

The big banks moaned and lobbied for 40 years for G/S to be repealed. By the time Glass/Steagall was revoked the Banks were already imploding and merging to buy time for the balance sheets.When it actually happened I was shocked and knew this was going to happen. Power/greed/entitlement syndrom.

It's not like they just now realize this is not in "the spirit of the regulation".
They knew. THey put the fines in the business plan as part of cost of doing business. Every year they got by they made $$$$$$$$$$$.
