The problem is the republicans seem to have a homogeneous group of southern males all of which are middle age to older in the ranks and whenever Bush has a chance to appoint someone different from that basic makeup he fails to do so

Considering you don't live far from Stanford, I can't quite see how you confused Condolezza Rice, one of the President's closest advisors, with a southern middle age white male, or even Colin Powell, who is from Brooklyn.

Here are the cabinet members: three women, 1 Chinese, 1 Japanese, 1 Hisapanic and 2 blacks. Out of seven white looking middle aged guys, only two guys, Ashcroft and Evans, made their homes in the South (including Texas) before coming on board with the cabinet. Condolezza Rice would make it four women in the cabinet, but her position as National Security Advisor is not a cabinet rank position even though she has the President's ear to a greater extent than most members of the cabinet.

Your buddy, Huey
P.S. Some middle aged white guys are pretty good guys. <gg>
