Do you actually use any of that pi stuff in real life?
Currently, unfortunately not. Just twiddling bits for NASA's next space telescope.

I used to. I used to do R&D till the company I worked for was bought and R&D went quietly into the sunset.

You know those jpeg images used on the web? I was involved in part of the R&D that made them. They are based on Fourier series. Those use trigonometric functions- -sines and cosines. And THOSE things eat, drink, and breath pi.
Great stuff!
