John and Thread,
With Turkey rejected, now the path is clear for Iraq membership in the EU. <g> Perhaps the rejection is a gift to Bin Laden who most assuredly hates an Islamic democracy that allies with the US, even more than he hated the secular regime. Europeans are feckless as always. In the future perhaps instead of EU, a US/Turkey/Israel/Russia/Iran(someday) trade group set up to attract Arab states who want to travel back to the future and away from the past. Hell, maybe the British will see the light and adopt the dollar rather than the euro. EU is our competitor--Let their rejections be the basis for a new group. Why in this world cant groups be trans-regional. Mike
