Right now I'm seeing so many people who have stopped even looking at companies because they've become overly conditioned by the downside and there is a lot of fear, a lot of cynicism.

It is sad in a way. There are still many good companies out there. But because a company is good and may even have good fundamentals, it doesn't mean that it is the right time to buy their stock. Even good companies get hit in a bear market. We shouldn't be looking for fair valued companies, we should be looking for under valued companies. And there are very few of those.
