re: Or, could it be that the handset they are using in their WCDMA demonstrations is of a higher quality?

KT ICOM is demonstrating higher quality, highly questionable hyperbole.

From its inception, ICOM has wielded well its key lesson learned from Europe - the utility of the big lie.

ICOM has a long, rutted, uphill battle to sell wCDMA to a country already accustomed to better.

re: Is there a technological reason in the WCDMA standard that makes it possible to provide "clear images" than EV-DO?

Only if dreaming makes it so.

More to the point...

Is there a technological reason in the WCDMA standard that...

...will make it a functional, financially viable technology? Will efficient wCDMA base station ampifiers really evolve by 2004? Will asynchronous and generational handoff be resolved? At what cost?

"..the (Korean) government has decided to introduce both cdma2000 1x and W-CDMA 3G services in a bid to help Korean wireless carriers and handset makers open up more overseas markets with experience in both standards."

Well and good. However, intentions don't alter reality.
