Get him to wire you a token amount as a sort of "proof of good intention". Something trivial so he can't object to the amount ... like four dollars, nineteen cents.

Or have him mail the equivalent amount in Nigerian ... ah ... Nairas ... about 480 of them.

Might as well get some money back from those chaps, just to say you did.
