Agree with you 99% Fred. Dick morris ran lotts campaign. He has only kind words to say about the man. Morris is very savvy and i believe him to be truthful. Lott is ultra conservative but i do not think him a racist. Of course the real issue is that many southern whites hide their racism in a conservative wrapper. For clear racists look at Jesse Helms and Bob Byrd. I will try to catch Lott on BET tonight. To blacks he need not apologize. They are very familiar with the world lott comes from and they seek the truth, not self serving political comments. It would be nice if he said that his southern roots have clouded his judgement on issues his whole adult life. No more Jeff Davis is my hero bull shit. No more rebel flags. No more glorification of the Old South which was in reality a cesspool of hatred and repression. If he said those words he could still be a great leader. But he won't. The Republicans must repudiate the dixiecrats just as the dems did in 1948. No more political advantages from race baiting and then we will have begun to realize MLK dream. mike
