EG,

Thanks! If you want to try a little "horizontal arbitrage" buy a little AFLX and SFLX, and then you own the two "big guys" of the flex world. (Solectron and MKE have little pieces currently).

Both AFLX and SFLX maintain manufacturing facilities in countries that recently devalued currency- AFLX in Thailand, and SFLX inthe Philippines. The impact of the devaluation on each company is unclear, since it depends whether the companies denominate their commercial contracts in a major currency such as the yen or dollar, or in local currencies, and also whether they actually buy parts at the Asian locations, or just ship parts into Asian locations for reassembly at their plants. Finally many company treasury departments have someone hedging their currency bets in their current portfolios of commercial contracts.

My analysis of SFLX's situation suggested that the devaluations had little if any impact uon SFLX. Now I have not had the time to read AFLX's SWEC fiings to see how they handle currency issues and what their Asian manufacturing facility actually does, but my guess is that similar to SFLX, there will be no major impact upon AFLX's bottom line by the Thai baht devaluation....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
