A former Assembly of First Nations chief is under investigation for making racist remarks that have reverberated across the country. David Ahenakew told a Saskatchewan reporter that Hitler was right to fry Jews during the Second World War. He went on to call Jews a "disease" and added that Hitler was only trying to clean up Europe. Saskatchewan's Attorney General has asked the RCMP to investigate whether Ahenakew violated Canada's hate laws. Ahenakew is a veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Order of Canada.
