Is this right? Republicans want higher income taxes?? Oh, sorry... only on the poor. Kewl. The idea, floated in the WSJ - points out that the richest 1% pay 26% of US income tax. Apparently ignores the fact that they also have 19% of its income, and pay proportionately less in other taxes... and even this commentary misses the fact that it's neither practical nor feasible to tax that portion so poor that they need benefits to survive anyway. slate.msn.com slate.msn.com Ad yet, the punitive spirit continues... slate.msn.com Edit: even the Washington Post doesn't think this is a good idea... washingtonpost.com I'm sure I hate the pooor as much as the next man, but I see no need to be vindictive and petty about it...
