MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 2002--FSI International, Inc. In this new role, Mr. Avezzu will facilitate the alignment of FSI's portfolio of products, services and logistics operations to meet regional customer requirements. He will manage the company's European operations from FSI's office in Milan, Italy.

The appointment comes in connection with FSI's recent announcement regarding the early termination of its distribution agreements in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region with Metron Technology (Nasdaq:MTCH - News). Effective March 1, 2003, FSI will directly handle the sales, service and applications support for its products in those regions. "We are pleased to welcome Stefano to FSI's European team. His extensive background in the semiconductor capital equipment industry combined with his hands-on experience and knowledge of European customer needs in the areas of sales, service, applications and logistics support make Stefano an ideal fit for this position," commented Dean Duffy, vice president of sales and service at FSI. "As a long-time employee of Metron Technology, Mr. Avezzu's organizational understanding will help to facilitate a smooth transition of European-based business to our direct operations model."

Prior to joining FSI, Mr. Avezzu served at Axcelis Technologies as the global account manager for STMicroelectronics. Previous to his role at Axcelis, Mr. Avezzu was with Metron Technology for nearly 15 years in various sales and management positions leading to his role as general manager for Metron's Italian operations. He has also served as a process engineer in photolithography and ion implantation at STMicroelectronics.
