Good Afternoon Steve:

Your analogy is false.It is illegal to steal a car.
It was perfectly legal to own a slave at that time. It was part of the culture. Was it right? Of course not. Did we fix it? Yes. We made it illegal.

The problem occurs when people look back 200 years, and try to make others feel guilty about things that were perfectly legal and socially acceptable at the time.
