Hi Elmat, <<Bust is here ... start a discussion ... how to live and profit through it>>

Yes and yes.

<<1) Abracadabra ...wait for the tornado to pass ... 8)Resurgence of the artifacts of the pre-1997 boom?>>

That will be eight more yes's.

It is 6:45pm. My wife (sharing my office until she finds her own) and I are still stuck in our office, each doing too much year-end business activities, with deadlines to meet, and all lines run from tomorrow until December 24 noon.

Such is the sad state of the Hong Kong working men and women that they cannot attend a fun party given by friends tonight to bring in Christmas cheer.

The Soca music from the Caribbean is playing on the office music system, turned down whenever phone calls are in effect.

Actually I am done for the day, but am waiting for wife, and eventual dinner.

The gold abracadabra that is in progress now still has a bit of room to run. Cooking delicacies sometimes involve extended hours of slow cooking over low heat, bring to a gentle transformation of the cooked object, heightening its ability to arouse the senses:0)

I received a new product flyer from ABN AMRO Bank, offering a structured product denominated in NZD guaranteeing 10% and return of capital in 2.9 years. The product will return either 10% or over 10% depending on where the price of gold is at the end of 2.9 years (with 77% participation on any rise in gold price from here on out). If gold rises 24%, the product will pay back 18.48% plus return of capital, but in New Zealand Dollars.

Apparently more gold-backed and/or gold affiliated financial products are in the pipeline.

This financial marketing trend bodes ill for the 3D future, but good for gold, as it requires the use of gold for nothing more than simply resting in deep vaults, not aging, and certainly not fashioned into anything remotely more useful than blocks, playing its role as the one true money that rules over all cash;0)

I can see it now, gold-backed money market funds, bonds, insurance policies, other derivatives, and yikes, a novel thought, gold-backed currency!

Give it time, be patient, much as we must when cooking fattened game birds wrapped in layers of banana leaves and mud, buried in a trench surrounded by hot volcanic rock over 24 hours. When done, the aromatic meat will simply melt off the bones, soaked in herbs, spices and its own fat.

I think I just decided on where to go for dinner tonight. An excellent little nondescript curry house down the road from my office.

Chugs, Jay
