just yesterday a large union of public workers shut down the major airports, garbage collection etc etc, nation wide as a pre-formal-strike threat, to show their power behind their demands for a 3 per cent wage increase...

this in a country with now chronic high unemployment and well known major funding issues across the board....

one might think they'd consider themselves lucky to have a job at all ... particularly with the high benefits attached...

nice article in the FT yesterday on utility company short falls in pension funding.. from a surplus last year of 5 billion, to a short fall now of 5.5 billion... txu ewe williams and european companies mentioned.. i.e... across the sector worldwide..

big question: who is going to pay?

got inflation? <g> it won't all come from the price of energy LOL!!!

the dark horse of inflation will come from all sorts of places where dark horses live.

meanwhile, the income deprived are buying the utility index like there is no tomorrow... and in that part, they are right, there is no tomorrow. wait until that becomes clear yet again in the .UTIL
