Re: VZ--This is simply another example of the big company that has conflict parts. The largest part of Verizon is its wired service. The greatest fear of the old fuddy duddies in that part of the company is that wireless could capture some of their business. I've attended meetings with the wired guys, and they really are worried they might lose their jobs to the wireless guys.

A parallel case concerns Kodak and its efforts to preserve a market for conventional film, thereby resulting in Kodak being knocked out of the lead in digital cameras, printers, and paper. Kodak even went one step further by trying to set up online printing facilities for digital users, rather than encouraging digital users to do it themselves.

Basically the problem with Verizon is that the company is not ready to let wireless compete with its older and ultimately more expensive wired voice/data services. It's like Kodak! Deja vue all over again.
