As long as that cost is born by Lott, rather than an American public beset by a Marxist/Leninist enemy trying to get close to power again, I have no problem with it at all. Let Lott introduce 8 or 9 pounds of legislation designed to show his "new image". None of it will ever pass. Few have noticed that the Lott affair is a BELTWAY matter. Drive outside the BELTWAY, and no one gives a shit. Go to Mississippi, and they talk about possible replacements if Lott resigns, but there's no question that he can remain Senator for as long as he wants the job...
