And another thing that bothers me is if he did it to "commit suicide" as some are convinced, how did he know for sure the store owner or guard would shoot to kill him?
I used to be an armed guard and was a pretty good shot, and if and when my time ever came where I would have to shoot another human being, I would have tried my best not to kill the person if at all possible.... and of course that is not always possible..... As for the possibility of trying to put a scare into the owner, it's unlikely in my opinion, but possible..... When I was a kid, I will never forget the time my mother's "main squeeze" showed me a small handgun loaded with blanks, and said watch this. He then proceeded into the bar near his business, went up to some guy at the bar, and started shooting the gun full of blanks at the poor guy's legs! Needless to say, I was pretty shocked by that incident, not to mention the poor guy who thought he was going to die as he fell down screaming: "No, no! Please Charlie, no!!! This was over forty years ago, yet it still stands out in my mind as to how far some folks will go to "get even" with somebody or to show their warped sense of humor, even at the risk of getting shot themselves. |
