Does anyone know how many chips MU is getting per 8" wafer? Was catching up on some reading last night and came across the following from "The Economist" June 7, 1997 in a piece on NEC's proposed Shanghai fab:

"Lately NEC has learned to cram more DRAM devices on to a wafer of silicon than any of its leading rivals. The company is well into its fourth 'shrink' of its basic 16-megabit DRAM design, getting upwards of 700 chips on a single standard eight-inch wafer. Firms still using third-shrink designs hae to make do with around 450 chips per wafer." (p. 62)

I know - old news and it's not going to factor into today's trading, but just wondering.

Also, LSI announced last evening it is acquiring Mint Technology, an engineering design firm. So if there was a "rumor" out there about LSI possibly being involved in an acquisition or merger, I'd assume this is it. It's Mint Technology. Not Micron Technology. Spelling does seem to matter <g>

Good trading,

Tom
