Later, he told one of them that his wife and daughter had been killed in the indiscriminate shelling of Lebanese villages by the USS New Jersey in September 1983.
So I guess the Arabs should worry about the families of the 3,000 some odd innocent victims of 9/11 carrying out the same style of attacks??
Come on now... people make excuses for their behavior as they see fit... Fine.. if he wanted to target US military personnel, or the USS New Jersey, then that's legitimate..
And btw, did anyone verify that his wife and daughter were killed by that shelling, or was he merely trying to make an excuse for his actions??
But that, surely, is a "Catch 22" argument to Palestinians who want nothing more than a state of their own,
But we know that's not the case... Any Palestinian state would be "Arafat's state", not the palestinians.. They have no organized political opposition to Arafat, thus they have no choice but to choose him... And he like it that way..
As for defining Terrorism, I think the following link pretty much sums up my feeling on the topic:
therationalradical.com
In sum.. when an organization seeks to deliberately target a civilian population for the purpose of achieving a political or military agenda, that's terrorism..
And all societies, including the US has engaged in terrorism at some point in their history. Or should I say that certain Americans, using the flag for justification, have engaged in terrorism..
But groups who specialize in conducting terrorist activities, deliberately avoiding confronting a foreign military in combat, certainly fall under such a categorization.. Hawk |
