No, the Golan Heights is now Israel's for keeps!!! Israel got the Golan Heights by CONQUEST after years of sheer hard work ---- spying, meticulous planning and organization. Saying that the Golan Heights is Israel’s “for keeps” is highly debatable. Just because Israel conquered it in war, does not mean that they can permanently claim ownership to it. America, Great Britain, and many western countries have conquered countries in war which have been not kept. Israel returned territory to Egypt, and they may have to return the Golan Heights if they cannot reach an agreement with Syria. This is fact IMO. The GH is vital for Israel's survival and must not be given up! The pervasive thinking is that Arabs of any stripe are sneaky and cannot be trusted under any circumstances. <g> Remember the saying I told you about? ---- "Be anything but an Arab." ---- Justice and balance are vital for Israel's survival. Arabs are honorable, and have an acute sense of justice. When you implied that I was an Arab, I took it as a compliment. So, even though I am not an Arab, feel free to call me one anytime. The Israelis have learnt a vital lesson: Hitler's conquest of Czechkoslovakia was very easy after the Germans managed to persuade the Czechs to hand over their "Golan Heights". Perhaps this is so, but it does not mean that the matter is settled just because the Israeli’s are fearful. I also believe that the Kuwaiti’s have learnt a vital lesson when Saddam invaded his “Czechoslovakia”. IC
